Prayer for Peace with North Korea
Welcome back to Weekly Prayer, a newsletter for today’s rapidly changing world. Today, we will cover a recent North Korean military development and pray for peace with North Korea. Let’s dive into it.
News Item: North Korea Develops World’s Largest Intercontinental Ballistic Missile

Yesterday, during a parade celebrating the 75th anniversary of the North Korean Worker’s Party, Kim Jong Un unveiled what experts believe is the largest Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) ever built. According to the Wall Street Journal, “The new ICBM is a successor to the Hwasong-15—the missile that demonstrated the North’s potential to hit the U.S. mainland—and boasts a similar range. But it is significantly longer and thicker, and could possibly carry more than triple the payload, or number of warheads.”
For years, the Kim regime has sought to develop its nuclear capabilities to increase its leverage and bargaining position against other world powers, such as South Korea and the United States. This new ICBM development, which admittedly remains untested, could allow Mr. Kim’s regime to do exactly that.
Nevertheless, the dictator said the following during a speech yesterday: “We clarify that our war deterrent is being developed not for aiming at others. We are developing it in order to defend ourselves.”
Whatever the reason for the development for the ICBM, it is clear that the world is now a more dangerous place. Let us pray for peace so that this threat does not devolve into violence.
Prayer: Prayer for Peace with North Korea

“Lord, today we pray for peace with North Korea. Kim Jong Un’s regime has developed the world’s largest intercontinental ballistic missile, and we pray that his government doesn’t decide to use it against any of its enemies. Protect and guide the world’s political leaders so that they, acting with your wisdom and love, are able to maintain the peace with North Korea. Amen.”
